Inner Spirit Collab - Figure #1
This piece was designed and stitched for *collab-da's Challenge #2: Inner Spirit. This particular piece was stitched as a sort of self-portrait (though I am not that thin and my hair is, in fact, longer). Currently this piece is in storage, though I am thinking about framing it.
Design time for this project was close to 10 hours up-front; this does not count the fine-tuning that I did while I stitched. Total stitching time was 33.5 hours; stitching began on May 20th and ended on May 27th, 2008. The piece was stitched with DMC 6-strand cotton embroidery floss and DMC 6-strand Light Effects metallic floss over two threads on 28-count Antique White Monaco from Charles Craft. Finished design size is 4.5 inches wide by 10.25 inches tall. Stitches used include full cross stitch, backstitch, and French knots.
The project idea was to represent "Inner Spirit"; our group decided to interpret that as the artistic muse inside all of us that lends us inspiration. It was my part to cross stitch a representation (a portrait, if you will) of each group member - the muse was drawn digitally by ~XxkatanaoX and the whole thing assembled on a photograph I took while in Trinidad.
