Of Cars and ... Other Cars?

Journal Entry: Wed May 7, 2008, 12:35 PM
Cars seem to be the item of the moment, what with bringing my boyfriend's RX-7 back into the shop for a blown engine (again...don't ask). My own shocks are shot, but they're still under warranty, so that at least is a free repair. My dad's Volvo needs a new clutch, but we'll do that ourselves.

On that note, I don't suppose anyone has a low-mileage, reasonably-priced LS2 (Corvette/GTO) engine they're looking to sell? *sigh* Didn't think so.

Interesting Fact: It is possible to drift a 1988 Nissan Sentra. I kinda forgot what car I was driving (don't ask) and took that 30-mph turn at close to 65. Oops. And, for the record: kids, don't drive like I do. It's not safe/legal/advisable/whatever (seriously! I'm not being facetious here).

With the warmer weather finally here to stay it's perfect for jumping in the car and driving just to drive. Back roads around here are deliciously winding and all tree-lined and breathtaking as well. There's nothing quite as freeing as 300 horse and an open road.

VROOOOOM

Side Note: Can anyone recommend a good brand of plastic screen protector for a digital camera? I've had three peel right off the screen of my digital SLR, and it's getting to be a little ridiculous (yes, I'm putting them on correctly). I'm half-tempted to just go to the GameStop and get theirs; the ones I put on my DS are doing just fine. Still, suggestions?

Recently completed and/or worked on:

*collab-da's Inner Spirit Project: I don't have much to say about this one because I want everyone to be surprised when we finish. It's my first time working in a collaborative project like this, and I'm enjoying it so far.

`dedredhed's Art Around The World Project: I'm stitching up two tiny pieces for this project (directly modified from designs I've posted here; I don't have time to design fresh pieces before the deadline). Anyway, I encourage everyone to participate in this project; it doesn't cost you anything and it'll bring a smile to a kid's face. Heck, I'm doing it, and I don't even like kids.

Decepticon Pattern: finally got the fabric dyed; stitching in progress. On hold until I finish my "Art Around The World" submissions.

NEW Mystery Project: 20% finished with this one, and I of course had to go and RE-DESIGN THE ENTIRE THING. I always seem to do this. Anyway, I am happy with my new color choices, and it doesn't really affect what I've finished already so I don't have to start over. This project is going to either drive my crazy or make me go blind - or quite possibly do both.

Pending:

Other NEW Mystery Project: A small design destined for a keychain; I anticipate only 12-ish stitching hours for this one. Currently held back until I get the fabric I want (had to special-order...it's a waiting game at this point). This project is so back-burner it's not funny.

The Mighty Samurai: I'm modifying this Dimensions Gold kit for my boyfriend. I've got gridlines in my linen and I plan to start actual stitching as soon as the doctor clears me to sit at the floor stand for extended periods of time again. On hold until further notice.

The Tempest Project: I've started Tempest #2 (of a planned 4). This project stays in my stitching bag at my boyfriend's apartment, and I work on it whenever I stay over there (not as often as you'd think with both our busy schedules). The color theme is green, and I've ordered some Whisper (specialty "fuzzy" floss) to play around with as well.

Cat With Attitude: my "waiting room" project for when I take my Grandma to the doctor. This is the third of four similarly-themed plastic canvas projects.

Wings of the Spring Garden: features butterflies, birds and flowers...eventually I'll work on this stamped quilt top. Maybe when I finish my Tempest's I'll try to devote the occasional night to it.

Lul. You're sneaky and I'm lazy. Having the month stuck up there saves me the trouble of updating my age. Because changime my profile once a year is SUCH a drag.

HAY. Me too! We should go to LJ and swap lists.

I have a bajillion things started, and nothing wants to finish. Gah!

Can't think of anyone I'd rather have as my stalker!!!

It seems our luck to constantly miss each other. (Cue the peanut gallery to mumble something about how we need to schedule a time.)

(No stalkage tonight, I won't be home. Think of it as time to plot.)

So, I think I am totally going to try the plushie thing, but I've promised myself to get through my current projects-with-deadlines first.

And now...Attaaaaaack!!! :glomp:

No problem, I love your stuff!!

I ROCK!! :boogie:

No, we'd be mad AND bored. You know it's true.

I can't really write silly either (Muse-verse doesn't count?), but I CAN TRY. And fail miserably, but everyone likes a train wreck, right?

THAT TOTALLY WORKED.

Lul. We do love them; if we only listened to ourselves we'd both be mad, or bored. :ohnoes:

My efforts at silly have phailed with a capital ph. Mayhaps I'll dredge some up for you to point and laugh at if I can ever get the willpower.

OI! WRITING SKILLS! OVER HERE, PRONTO!!! *snaps fingers*

...did that work?

And hun, the only way to make the boys stop rolling their eyes would be to gouge their eyes out, unfortunately. I've tried everything (including bribery). They're that stubborn, but we love them

I have made a small amount of progress on 7; hopefully I can finish it soon and it will inspire you. Or I can write you something silly if you'd like :D
